Atunci când studiem limba engleză, inevitabil ajungem la partea de gramatică și, mai exact, la partea de timpuri verbale, care trebuie studiate atât în ceea ce privește forma verbală cât și folosirea. Și, din păcate, modurile și timpurile din limba engleză nu se potrivesc cu cele din limba română.
Așadar, hai să vedem cum conjugăm verbele la Past Simple și cum folosim acest timp în limba engleză.

Atunci când conjugăm un verb regulat la Past Simple adăugăm -ED la verbul principal. Și foarte important, toate persoanele fac la fel.
Reguli de ortografie la adăugarea terminației -ED:
- Majoritatea verbelor primesc -ED fără a avea nicio modificare:

jump - jumped
work - worked
- Verbele monosilabice și bisilabice care au accentul pe a doua silabă , terminate într-o singură consoană precedată de o singură vocală dublează consoana finală :
